"Elevating Caries Management: Advanced Approaches for Dental Professionals" is a comprehensive course designed to enhance dental professionals' skills in managing patients at risk for caries. This course focuses on the ADPIE (Assess, Diagnose, Plan, Implement, Evaluate) process, with a particular emphasis on the Assessment, Diagnosis, and Planning phases. Participants will explore state-of-the-art early dental caries interventions and critically analyze the benefits and limitations of various treatment options. By the end of this course, attendees will gain a deep understanding of advanced strategies for early caries management, aimed at fostering optimal oral health outcomes for both adults and children.
Objectives:
- Define and explain the steps of the ADPIE process in detail.
- Identify key risk factors and indicators for dental caries in different age groups.
- Differentiate between various stages of dental caries.
- Evaluate the advantages and limitations of early caries treatment options, including fluoride therapies, sealants, and minimally invasive restorative techniques.
- Explore contemporary approaches to caries management, with a focus on non-invasive and minimally invasive techniques.
- By the end of this course, participants will be equipped to effectively assess, diagnose, and plan caries management strategies, providing a strong foundation for implementing these approaches in their practice

Emma Spencer, RDH
Emma Spencer, RDH, has been in the dental field since 2006, beginning as an RDA in her home state of Alaska. She graduated from dental hygiene school in 2016 in Texas, and has had the privilege of working in many different types of clinics over the years including public health, large group practices, and small private practices. She has also worked as an instructor for future RDAs, and is currently a clinical educator for Young Innovations.
In hygiene school Emma remembers struggling with the concept of sharpening, and how daunting the task was. Never one to turn down an opportunity to share knowledge and teach others, Emma is excited to bring you this refresher course on sharpening.
