Clinical Study
The Effects of a Desiccant Agent in the Treatment of Chronic Periodontitis
Clinical Outcomes After 12 Months
SRP Only: 2.23 ± 0.31 mm
SRP + Desiccant: 3.25 ± 0.57 mm
SRP + Desiccant: 4.21 ± 0.34 mm
SRP Only: 4.56 ± 1.5%
SRP + Desiccant: 34.23 ± 4.2%
Conclusion
SRP plus PerioDT resulted in a greater reduction in clinical, microbial and inflammatory mediators compared to SRP alone.1

Study Summary
Participants who were treated with SRP and a desiccant (PerioDT with HybenX technology) established improved clinical outcomes in their probing depths (SRP: 2.23 ± 0.31 mm vs. desiccant: 3.25 ± 0.57 mm, p < 0.05 mm), clinical attachment loss (SRP: 3.16 ± 0.29 mm vs. desiccant: 4.21 ± 0.34 mm, p < 0.05 mm) and bleeding on probing (SRP: 4.56 ± 1.5% vs. desiccant: 34.23 ± 4.2%, p < 0.001%) at 12 months.
The study also established long-term retainment of reduced red-complex bacterial loads for participants who received the SRP+ Desiccant treatment, with reduction lasting as long as 365-days after non-surgical periodontal therapies were performed.
“It's hard to imagine my ability to effectively practice dentistry without PerioDT. This is such a go-to tool whenever I'm faced with any periodontal pocket around a tooth or implant that's just impossible to keep clean with home care and maintenance. The results have been incredible!"
